JOINING OUR COMMUNITY EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The Community Exceptional Education Programme is part of the membership services of the IAHCP. The scheme is also available to a very limited number of candidates from the community, who met certain criteria.
We only accept candidates who have been assessed by their schools as gifted and talented students. Reports are required from the schools of the candidates on their eligibility to the programmes before they can be invited to take our selection exams to the scheme.
Eligible candidates are required to sit our selection tests in English, Maths, Science and a Foreign Language. Additional Assessments are performed in form of cognitive tests, aptitude tests or IQ tests for certain candidates in order to make sure that they can cope well in the programme. We also undertake some social skills tests to make sure that candidates can work well with people of all ages.
Candidates in this programme are encouraged and supported to work to their full potential regardless of their ages and chronological ages at schools, provided that they show interests, abilities as those above their ages. This is because we believe that people should not be restricted to progress in their education and learning because of their age. We also believe that learning should be fun and enjoyable, and people have motivation and enthusiasm for learning when they are in their right environment that best suits their learning styles.
As this is part of the IAHCP Membership Services, most candidates qualify to receive awards and Scholarship from the IAHCP Awards and Scholarship Community Education Award Scheme to enable them to undertake the programme with us. However, other candidates can also apply to the IAHCP Awards and Scholarship Section for Community Education Development Awards to enable them to undertake the programme.
People can apply to join the programme at any time throughout the year. Three interim reports, between September and April each year are sent about the candidates progress, and a final year report at the end of each Stage of Study are sent about the candidates progress at the end of July of each year. We send the regular reports, as candidates are supported and encouraged to work at their own pace, which suits individual style, without any pressure.
